great fun new song by the strokes reminds me of a song I used to listen to as a kid! (internetz ftw!)
Here is the strokes song first... who just released this album after a second round of recording to make sounds more inspired by bands like MGMT, Crystal Casteles, Arctic Monkeys by experimenting with different production techniques.
Here is one of ottmar lieberts best known instrumentals... (one of my nostagically inclined favorite songs of all time)
I know the above two songs are only vaguely similar... but girl talk got me confused with which song he sampled from! You decide: smashing pumpkins vs. layla... rod steward vs. shakira... but seriously, i still can't believe queen copied vanilla ice.

Yelle's New CD
As they say in France, "hit it hard".
Everybody loves French female pop-rap.
Not sure if the embed player will work below, so here is a link to where you can hear the cd: http://hypem.com/#!/artist/Yelle

Who is more popular...
Firstly, here's a cool remix to a Hoodie Allen song, here
Now to some writing that has something to do with the title of this post. Sometimes I wonder if a band I like is more famous than Justin Bieber. And then I wake up from that nightmare! Of course the band isn't. Justin Bieber is the coolest and most famous, so suck it rest of the world.
When I'm not thinking of Justice Beaver, a crime-fighting beaver, I like to think about other music, like say, Phoenix, Chromeo, Cut Copy, and Hot Chip. Four bands that don't necessarily have the same listeners, but are all somewhere between pretty cool and really cool.
Who do you think has the most listeners? Take a moment. Think about it. Now go here!
I love charts.
To celebrate Phoenix, here's a cool remix to a cool song of theirs:

Gaga for Gaga
Who doesn't love fashion shows?!
Lady Gaga put the music together for this one and it has clips of her new song "Government Hooker". You heard it here first! Or like 74,000th!

Is Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard actually Russell Brand?
First the music.
Consequence of Sound (a very nifty music blog): "Via the adorably-titled Fuck Yeah Death Cab For Cutie Tumblr, enjoy two new songs as performed by frontman Ben Gibbard during his recent gig at the Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco, CA." I'm pretty pumped that there is a tumblr with that name. Anyway, check out the songs here!
I was lucky enough to see Ben Gibbard pop into Zooey Deschanel's Christmas Spectacular at the Largo in December and his fantastic witty banter with his wife was literally laugh out loud (LLOL?) funny. His charm doesn't seem to pop during Death Cab shows - maybe because the music isn't the happiest stuff in the world - but he's funny. And he's made a song for a potentially funny movie called Arthur starring Russell Brand. Ben Gibbard & Russell Brand - two stars married to two ladies that look like each other and make gosh darn catchy music! Coincidence? Ummm.... yeah probably.
Here are some awesome She & Him songs and photos for COMPARATIVE PURPOSES:
