Memorable Mondays: 90's

Lit: Miserable

Now I hate to brag, but I made a prettttty sweet 90's mix about 6 years ago that still holds a candle to Betty White. That made sense. But I forgot about this song, and I got to say for a pop-rock i like the lyrics a lot. Clever is the new Snickers commercial during half-time, thats what I always am going to start saying. (And "Spring Break" everytime something awesome happens).

Now kicking back to awesome 90's songs really deserves a shout out to Say What Karaoke... Was it really this long ago?

Who could have possibly learned the lyrics to Chickity China the Chinese Chicken? or had so much fun being tied to the bedpost?

Here's to you memories

Super Saturday: Janelle Monae and Silversun Pickups and Chris Garneau

Happy Shlappy! My first review has really made the time tested awesome test... its in my head and i can't help it.
Janelle is beautiful on the inside and has awesome shoes for tightropping. I love that they throw in a little Outkast flavor with Big Boi (and was that Andre 3000 I see walking by circa 4:23?). So whether you're high or low, this song is bound to make you want to get on the tightrope. Solid hook, catchy rhythms, beautiful singing makes a perfect saturday song post.

Another song that I have been happy to have floating around my membranes is by the Silversun Pickups: Substitution.
I didn't realize i had heard this band on the radio already, but it made me yearn for my nostalgic affinity to emo music (Brand New "The Quiet Things No One Ever Knows", Taking Back Sunday "Cute without the "E" (Cut from the Team)", Saves the Day - pretty much the whole "Stay What You Are" album, and more recently the surprising fun snowboarding I had on the slopes with Boys Like Girls - "The Great Escape"). I have included the Silversun's popular tracks for your further enjoyment: Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye by mandysilversunmusic
Silversun Pickups - Panic Switch by mandysilversunmusic (Turns out its a boy singing, who knew?!) Kinda has the Garbage thing going one, riiiiiiight?
And finally, a truly amazing music video that I didn't give the full credit it was due when I first was shown it several months ago... I'm glad its back in my life!

Twofer Tuesday ~ Twin Sister

Twin Sister's "Ribbon Bow" and "All Around and Away We Go"

Feeling like floating in space a bit while smiling? Okay, Buzz Aldrin, here's the song for you: All Around and Away We Go. Some soft female vocals massage your ear-knuckles real nice and gently (ear-knuckles = ?? but I was going to say "earballs"...). Ribbon Bow is extremely catchy with its horns and dingalings. Oh, be right back, gotta go float away with some smiles again.
Lesson: Twofer Tuesdays are awesome, because it gives us TWO Twin Sister songs.

Miniature Tigers: Cannibal Queen

I am a cat owner, so I feel - despite domestication - I am the caretaker of a Miniature Tiger. The band, by that name, is way cooler than most cats (not mine though. Suck it, other cat owners!) playing poppy, upbeat, fantestical indie smileys. That was a bunch of words that mean little. Let's get to the music!

Cannibal Queen - la la la la love you cannibal queen! I do not support cannibalism, but I do support fun songs, so there.

Also check out "The Wolf" for another delightful tune.
